International cooperation:
Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg and Werner von Siemens-Schule welcome a delegation from Bari, Italy
A delegation from Bari, Italy, has travelled to Cologne to promote international cooperation and intercultural exchange between Italy and Germany. The headmaster and two teachers from the electrical engineering department of the Italian school "IP Santarella De Lilla" visited the two schools. In order to familiarise themselves with the German dual system, they also visited partner companies in the dual training system.
The delegation from Italy, consisting of Maria Manicone, Giovanni Di Nielli and Nicola Sasanelli, was warmly welcomed by Knut Bender and Marco Klusmann. During their visit, they had the opportunity to get to know not only the educational institutions, but also two partner companies (Atlas Copco and Deutsche Bahn) in the region. This intensive experience has laid the foundations for a promising collaboration with the Werner-von-Siemens School in particular.
One of the main components of this planned collaboration is the exchange of students for internships abroad. This will enable the students to gain valuable professional experience in an international environment and strengthen their intercultural skills.
There are also plans to exchange video projects in the classroom. This not only promotes the students' digital and language skills, but also provides an insight into the different teaching methods and educational content of the two countries.
The cooperation is funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme, which aims to improve the quality and international dimension of education.
In times of increasing nationalistic tendencies in various countries, it is of great importance to promote such international education projects. They help to break down prejudices, promote understanding and respect for other cultures and strengthen cohesion in a globalised world.
